Life Line was created as part of What’s Going On Upstairs, an art installation which was exhibited at The Knitting & Stitching Shows in late 2018. The piece was a replica of a hospital drip bag and hung from a drip stand. The hand stitched text was taken from a young girl’s diary. The motif was of an ‘anorexia fairy’ that tormented her life as she struggled with an eating disorder.
The tube from the drip bag was attached to a handmade quilt to form a life line to the patient. This drip bag was filled with medicine capsules containing miniature foods including health-giving vegetables, fruits, cheese, fish and milk. The other bag was full of miniature sweets, chocolates, cakes and crisps that the patient thinks are being pumped into her…
