‘Love Ewe’ has been created as a celebration of British wool - its rich heritage, remarkable versatility and enduring sustainability in the 21st century.
Drawing on the 1901 census, I researched individuals who worked in the wool industry, uncovering their names and the roles they held. These names and occupations have been hand stitched onto two of the labels, serving as a tribute to those who contributed to the industry and made it the success that it is today.
A third label highlights the key qualities of British wool, showcasing its extraordinary versatility. The colours of the balls of wool have been selected to reflect the Union Jack, symbolising a pride associated with this timeless material.
