under pressure, 2018
Exhibited as part of What’s Going On Upstairs Installation
Text taken from frustrated parents whose feelings explode in an outburst of words whilst living with and caring for a child/young adult with an eating disorder. The tiny hand stitched label gives a response from their son/daughter....
A child-size blood pressure cuff has been used as a pattern. The anorexic patient's arm becomes too thin for a full-sized cuff to be of any use.
Measurement: 34cm x 10cm
Process: Hand stitch
Materials: Textile, silk threads, velcro, inflation bulb, aneroid manometer gauge
